How do you heat set fabric paint?

I have never heat set anything, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have used a fabric felt tip pen (DecoFabric), on a canvas tote bag, and the instructions on the pen itself calls for heat set, but doesn't tell how to do that. Thanks in advance! How do you heat set fabric paint?
Use an iron (no steam) with a protective layer between the iron and the item in question. Some fabric paints/dyes can be heat set in the clothes dryer as well. How do you heat set fabric paint?
Wait until the paint dries completely (overnite is great). You then want to press the backside of the fabric with a warm iron -- no steam. I usually put a piece of paper on the painted side while pressing...just in case.
Sandwich it with wax paper on top and a piece of cardboard on the other side, then make sure you iron it for about two minutes or more. Usually it says on the marker package. Just giving it a quick run-over won't set it.
