What would be a good color to paint my family room to match my red sofa?

I have a red sofa and love seat and I want to paint my walls but don't know what color would look good. The sofa isn't bright red. Any links to pictures would be appreciated also, but not necessary. What would be a good color to paint my family room to match my red sofa?
Something light, like Glidden's ';Floral Twist'; would highlight the red furnishings. Then add accents (cushions, window treatments, artwork, etc) in harmonious shades, like eggplant and/or gold. What would be a good color to paint my family room to match my red sofa?
Well it depends on your floor colour, lighting and what mood you want. You could paint it a nice maroonish of a nice green. For ideas watch some designing shows and ask around.
I think red would look nice with white since red is such a bold and bright colour
Use benjaminmoore.com color viewer to give you ideas of colors. red can go with peach, yellow, beige,gray, but stay on the lighter side so your furniture ';pops';
A cream or off white would be very pretty. Too much red in a room is not good.
With a red couch you have many options. One to avoid would be green but some you may never think of but look great with reds are some peachy orange colors if you like to give the room some flare I would try that. If you want it more subdued I would go with a nice beige. Deep golds go well with those oranges and reds also.
two walls yellow............two walls blue....primary colors............black or white rug
Green. It is the most popular hue of this year, the color green is very diverse, ranging from shades of lush grasses, to crisp celery, to deep olive. Works very well with red furnishings.

Check out some paint manufacturer web sites, such as Behr or Sherwin Williams. They offer tips, on-line color samples, and technology where you can take a digital picture of your room and you can download and change colors. Gives you a realistic sense of how the room will look.

well it depends if you want something light or dark; what look are you trying to achieve? you could go for a light burgundy, or brown; any shade that you like; if you think that those colors are too dark then you also have the option of a differnt much, lighter shade of red; If you take a sample of the color and go to any home depot store, or paint store, you could really ';see'; and compare what matches.
gray
A light smoky shade of green is lovely -- basil, moss -- or a brighter celery is cheerful. Green, on a color wheel is the direct compliment of red, and makes a wonderful contrast. Then you can place pillows on the sofa that include shades of red as well as the green wall color.
Stick to beige, off white or light brown with black accents on decorations.

vases, ornaments, flowerpots, candles/holders

3] Try:

white or ivory

dusty rose [ if sofa is a blue-red ]

banana or lemon

forest or moss

sky or smoke blue

teal

caramel, [ espresso accents ]

gray, [ black accents ]
liight brown
