What is the best type of paint to use on metal miniatures?

I'm thinking about getting into the Warmachine tabletop strategy game. I believe the miniatures for that game are metallic. The most experience I've had painting minis was with plastic ones. Is there a particular type of paint that is better applied to metal figures than plastic ones?What is the best type of paint to use on metal miniatures?

They make decent acrylic based enamel paints that are very durable. Check with one of your local hobby shops or craft stores.
