Is it possible to purchase an exterior paint that looks nearly similar to a dark brown stain?

I havent seen one , but was thinking of using this , since I have already missed the chance to stain my lattice a dark brown, I have already painted it an exterior green.

Yes, you can match the color of any stain with the color of exterior paint. The only difference is that stain is transparent and allows the natural grain and beauty of the wood to show through. Paint completely covers and hides the wood. You can buy paint in every shade of brown. Just go to the paint store and tell them what you want.





ADDED: You are probably better off painting your lattice work anyway. Lattice is usually made out of cheap pine and will look better and be better protected with a good exterior paint. Paint would have been my first choice to begin with.

If it is any help what about rust or you can mix Red with a hint of orange. Terracotta, failing that you should be able to find someone at the D.I.Y. Store who could help you.

Use a solid stain. They will cover most paints and give you the stain finish. The brands I like are Cabot Pro VT and Sherwin Williams Woodscapes.
The difference between using stain and paint is that with stain you can pick up the grains in the wood verses when you paint it covers them, if you are trying to match a stain and paint, it will not look right and especially if your doing it out side, not a good idea, but if your painting over everything then take a sample of the stain to your local building store (like home depot or Menard's) and they can color match for you.
