How much does it cost to paint the interior of a 4000 sq ft house?

My fiance and I are remodeling a house and are getting quotes. We are in the southeast (USA) and the house is about 4000 sq ft. Any ideas as to about how much this should cost? How much does it cost to paint the interior of a 4000 sq ft house?
Here is ballpark numbers to help with the cost estimate. (Assuming ideal conditions with minimum to no prep work)

1. $1.35 - $1.75 per square foot - for sheetrock or brick walls

2. $3.00 - $3.50 per square foot - for trim if installed.

You also need to add in prep work, materials, mobilization, and labor costs. Don't forget most of the time a cheap estimate will yield a cheap or bad finished product. Make sure you get a reputable painter, with references and ask to see previous work. Lastly, (I have learned this the hard way), have the scope of work and cost in writing with a clear understanding between you and the painter. It never fails that at the end of a project the contractor will want a change order for something that was in the original scope of work.

I live in the Alabama and the price per sq ft is re-paints cost $1.75 because everthing is primed and caulked ( well iam sure some preping will have to be done ). But this is where painters make there money is re-paints dont let the tell you different i had my own company gross $350,000 plus, per year all the hard work has been done already re-paints are in and out. On to the next job so 1.75 x 4,000 theres your price and they buy the supplys make sure they have insurance and are bonded are you can be sued and this paint job will be this most high priced one you ever payed for if someone gets hurt are acts like they are hurt. Different companys have different prices so get many company different company to give you a price in the contract never give them money untill the job is complete and you have done a finally walk through. Wacth out for hidden charges such as-called extras have that stated in the contact so they cannot spring you for more money. Check with the B.B.B also and the Homeowners Association located in your town make sure they dont put latex over oil.*
it totally depends on the quality of the existing walls. i.e. how much damage there is, exactly what you want painted, the labor behind painting is what costs the most. my father and my husband are painting contractors and so it all depends on how much work it will entail. it isn't just slopping and rolling on some paint. if you put a lil more info could give you more info.
