I just bought an old laser last summer, and i patched a hole in it, but i need to paint it again to make it race quality. What type of paint do i need to get for it, and where can i buy it?
P.S. I already have a sprayer and compressor to use for this operation. Any help is appreciated.Where do i find a good paint for my laser sailboat?
Any marine shop can supply the best paint for your boat.Where do i find a good paint for my laser sailboat?
I sand all the gelcoat.
Using a grinder with sanding disc I removed any spider cracks in the gelcoat down to the fiberglass and filled them with Interlux Watertite body filler.
After each sanding I wash the surface with water, let dry and remove any residual dust with Interlux Solvent Wash
First step is to prime (2-3 coats) and paint (2-3 coats) between the waterline and the gunnels. Sanding between each coat.
I am use Interlux Pre Krote and Brightside finish above the
waterline.
Next step is to finish below the waterline.
Below the waterline I am using Intelux Interprotect (2-3 coats) finished with VC 17m Antifouling paint.
(they don't recommend topside paint below the waterline).
Then I'll flip the boat over and finish the topside (2-3 coats each of primer and paint sanding and washing between each).

That's Interlux paint's web site. It has a link to their distributors. Interlux is about the best boat paint you can buy. Do a search for Interlux Paints and do some price shopping at different distributors.
