What's the best way to paint a high vaulted ceiling?

My place has a high angular vaulted ceiling- maybe 20 feet high. The previous owners told me that thye painted it themselves in the past. I'm not crazy about the darker green color they used- I want a lighter, more neutral sand color instead. Any tips on what tools to use? Since I'm going from a dark color to a lighter one, what other preps would I need to do? Thanks. What's the best way to paint a high vaulted ceiling?
Since you don't want to have to repaint it more than necessary, make sure to use a good quality primer and paint, preferably the same brand.

They do rent scaffolding with mar-resistant wheels at your local tool rental store, but if it isn't a huge ceiling rent a tall step ladder instead. A 16 footer will allow reaching a 20 foot ceiling for the average height person. What's the best way to paint a high vaulted ceiling?
sprayer is the best on ceilings, just cover everything first.
You can rent scaffolding from Home Depot. Primer is what you need to dull the dark green down, then you will be able to paint it with one or two coats.
